Strategies for Decolonizing Clinical Practice (2 CEs)

This event offers 2 CEs for PA professionals holding LSW, LCSW, LPC, LMFT licenses. This event is also approved for 2 CEs for PA Licensed Psychologists.

Many clinicians who are striving to ensure more equitable and effective ways to engage minority and vulnerable populations are seeking assistance in identifying historic and institutional patterns in clinical practice that endangers those clients and the therapeutic relationship.  This event offers practical strategies and initiatives that foster success in creating safer and more inclusive clinical environments and interventions.   

By the end of this training participants will be able to: 

1. Identify the ways in which historic education and expectations of clinicians created an unnecessary and problematic hierarchy that endangers vulnerable clients of minority standing and oppressed experience.    

2. Relay at least 5 actions or strategies that a clinician can take toward decolonizing their clinical practice.   

3. Explain their intentions and efforts at integrating those strategies in an action oriented and planful manner.
