Medical Trauma: Identifying and Mitigating a Significant Disrupter to Health (2 CEs)

This event offers 2 CEs for PA professionals holding LSW, LCSW, LPC, LMFT licenses. This event is also approved for 2 CEs for PA Licensed Psychologists.

People who have experienced invalidating, humiliating and terrorizing experiences when attempting to pursue medical care often face long-term aversive tendencies based in denial and trauma. This event will explore experiences of medical trauma and how it can derail the pursuit of health and wellbeing for clients and the efficacy of interventions for clients. 

By the end of this training participants will be able to: 

1. Recite the characteristics of medical trauma.

2. Relay the causes and lasting impact of medical trauma and how it can affect clients pursuing medical interventions.      

3. Explain the considerations and opportunities available to clinicians in supporting and mitigating this reality for clients who have experienced medical trauma.
