Somatic Healing is a historic style of mental health intervention that has been lost in many educational programs for clinicians. This event supports the curiosity and learning of practitioners who would like to be more Trauma-Informed in their interventions and understand how somatic bodywork is a powerful tool for both trauma-specific therapy and general management of dysregulation in sessions.
This event is designed for clinicians largely unfamiliar with somatic body work but who are curious about its process and relevance to their clinical work.
Ideally, this event will be paired with the event titlted "A Primer to Somatic Body Work: Part Two", where in-depth instruction on interventions and techniques are taught. Part One explores the history, relevance and value of somatic work, but does not delve into techniques; that level of instruction will happen in Part Two.
By the end of this training participants will be able to:
1. Recite the tenets and expectations of somatic body work in the context of clinical practice.
2. Relay the clinical work where somatic interventions are most common and effective.
3. Identify ways in which they can integrate somatic body work into their clinical practice.
